In general, because the life of the egg is only 12 to 24 hours, you’re actually more fertile prior to ovulation and that’s because of the life of the sperm. Sperm can live in the vagina for five to seven days so therefore any sex that can result in the pregnancy. Once you have ovulated and the egg has not conceived, it’s impossible by that point. You can conceive obviously in the 12 to 24 hours but generally, your most fertile time is the time before ovulation and that’s the time to be maximizing the time that you have sex and to have sex every two to three days throughout the cycle.

If the question is with regards to chances of getting pregnant then you can schedule your intercourse before ovulation, hence you could potentially be more fertile before ovulation since you have the time for making sure that the sperm is present in the genital canal where it can then fertilize the egg. After it has been released, the egg only survives for 24 hours so if the intercourse takes place after ovulation then the chances of getting pregnant are reduced. If it’s not within that 24 hour period of time hence the chances of you being fertile in that sense are less.
