According to published studies, biopsies should always be conducted on day 5 at the blastocyst stage. For many years, biopsies were performed on day 3 under the assumption that it was a safe procedure. However, some studies confirm that conducting the biopsy on day 3 could reduce the implantation potential of these embryos by up to 40%, which doesn’t occur when the biopsy is done on day 5. Therefore, nowadays, all biopsies should be conducted at the blastocyst stage.
