Is endometrial scratching painful?
Does endometrial scratching cause pain?
Endometrial scratching, also known as the endometrial biopsy, is a procedure that may be useful in IVF treatment. But is it recommended for everybody? What does it look like and what is the reason for using this technique?
Well the endometrial scratching actually shouldn’t be painful but the thing is that it’s a little bit uncomfortable because you have to put a speculum and then pass with a small cannula through the cervix to get into the endometrium and do the scratch and that can be very easy when the cervix it’s really soft and you can go through the cervix with no difficulties and it can be a little bit uncomfortable when you have a little bit more of a resistance in the cervix.
Mostly not but it also depends from the patient, from the level of sensitivity. Mostly we use local anesthesia and generally patients do not feel anything.
