What helps thicken uterine lining?

Too thin endometrium can be a barrier to embryo implantation in IVF. Before your embryo is transferred to your uterus, the fertility specialist will make sure the lining is of sufficient thickness. If it is not, how can it be improved?

We start the preparation by preparing the endometrium with estrogens and then we start the progesterone five days earlier when we are transferring blastocyst, three days days earlier when we are transferring day three embryo (we try to transfer blastocyst of course) and the most important thing that I would like to say here is that what you really need to do is to measure the progesterone before and after starting it, so that you know that you are going to control that opening of the window while adding progesterone to the treatment.

Mostly the medications are making endometrium thicker but also there may be some additional factors like granulocyte colony stimulating factor in growth hormone. In very severe cases of fibrosis of endometrium, we very rarely but use stem cells that we obtain from adiposal tissue and then we just inject them into the uterus, so it is in some very severe cases of very thin endometrium. This technique is still not very successful and we just reached a success rate near 20%. In very difficult cases of huge fibrosis of endometrium, so only one option exists is just a surrogacy.
