How much bleeding is normal after IVF transfer?

It happens that there is some spotting or light bleeding right after the embryo transfer but what should get us alarmed? Are several days of light bleeding normal? When should we contact the doctor?

You don’t have to bleed after an embryo transfer, it’s pretty common a small spotting on the day of the embryo transfer, if the embryo transfer was difficult or the cervix was a little bit bleeding but always bleeding is not a normal thing after an embryo transfer. Of course, it doesn’t have to be a bad thing because implantation it is sort of a traumatic thing in the endometrium and it can break some vessels and that can be seen as a small spotting or a small brownie discharge but if bleeding is red and heavy as a first day of a menstrual period, that would be something to take care of.

After an embryo transfer, there could be some bleeding. It should be a light bleeding and is related to how hard it was to go through the cervix and it’s not of matter really because we know that even if we have some bleeding, the chances of pregnancy remain there. So, of course, we prefer not to have any kind of bleeding but then, if there is some bleeding, it doesn’t mean that the pregnancy test will come back as negative always.
