What does AMH level mean to fertility?

AMH level is not a key predictor of a natural conception. Levels of AMH with AFC (Antral Follicle Count) may predict the number of eggs that can be retrieved during the punction and therefore may affect the cumulative chances of pregnancy.

We know that AMH represents the ovarian reserve that is how many eggs there are in reserve within the ovaries. We do know also for a fact that the older women get the lower the AMH falls and the lower their reserve becomes. Interestingly we have lots of studies that show that in a natural cycle, the chances of conception do not change based on the AMH level as long as women are ovulating. However, as we become older and as the AMH drops, if we need to do treatments, the chance of treatment success will drop because the AMH and the ovarian reserve will drop. Therefore, we have a lower yield of eggs to work with so for natural conceptions it may not necessarily predict the outcome but as we get older and as the reserve drops, we do know that the treatment will be affected.
