The thing is that we have a better biomarker which is AMH. But before we had AMH we used FSH, LH and Estradiol to measure our ovarian reserve and it doesn’t always have to be like that. We may have a bad cycle or period where we measure it a little bit higher but it doesn’t need to be permanent. So in the past, we tried to measure FSH a couple of times of course, always between the second and the fifth day of the period and by having different results we can say that this means low ovarian reserve or that it was just a bad cycle.

Along with AMH and we also do baseline hormones like FSH, LH and estradiol to see if your baseline hormones are fine. In cases of very low ovarian reserve or ovarian failure, we do see higher FSH as well. Readings are only relevant in the first five days of your cycle. From the first day of your period, it must be done within the first five days of your cycle.
