Because you need good quality sperm to be able to reach an egg, sperm normally have to travel a very long and arduous distance from the point of ejaculation in the female reproductive tract, right to where the egg would be ovulated in the fallopian tube and that’s a very difficult journey for sperm to take. They have to be able to avoid the female’s immune system as it tries to attack the sperm and all of the other barriers that the sperm have to meet to reach that egg. So, good quality sperm are the ones that will reach that region of the fallopian tube where the eggs reside, that’s why sperm quality is really important.

There’s no doubt that this sperm quality has an impact on everything right the way through the fertility cycle: from fertilization to early embryo quality, to blastocysts, to clinical pregnancies, to miscarriage and even the health the long and short-term health of the child are all associated not surprisingly with the quality of the man’s sperm.
