The cause of female infertility very commonly you get problems with ovulation so particularly Polycystic Ovary Syndrome can cause irregular periods – irregular or absent ovulation – that’s a very important cause of female infertility. You can also have tubal disease such as tubal blockage due to previous chlamydia infection and that can cause problems because the tubes are basically blocked and the sperm and egg cannot meet or the embryo cannot transit into the uterus. Normally endometriosis – another common condition can cause significant pelvic pain and infertility. You can also have problems within the uterus itself, for instance, some women might have a fibroid affecting the lining of the uterus (these are called submucous fibroids) and they come in the way of implantation of the embryo and they can also cause infertility.
