In some countries, the regulation allows the patient to actually select their own donors and therefore they can go to a clinic or to an international bank like Cryos and make their selection and we will have a staff that can assist them with that. We know also that in some countries, for example Spain, the doctor needs to choose it because of the regulations and therefore, in those countries, it will be probably the coordinators with the help of the doctors taking a long list of the characteristics of the intended parents and then making the selection on behalf of the patient.

Who is in charge of selecting a donor for a patient? The answer depends on the country. In some countries, it is the patient or the couple who decide on the right donor for them and in some other countries, it is the medical team of the clinic who decides. For example, in Spain, by law, it is the medical team that is responsible for making the decision. Their decision s based on phenotypical aspects. They can also use some additional filters to make the decision. They can also use genetic compatibility or they can do an improved selection using our tool. Out tool, Fenomatch measures facial resemblance between the patients and the donor, that is more than 12,000 facial biometrics so it that way we can help the embryologists and doctors to choose the right donor for the patient.
