To prepare for an IUI basically, you should restrict certain choices in your lifestyle, avoid stress. There are some support groups you may think of joining. Modify your diet towards a more healthy style, use some relaxation techniques and avoid ejaculation for two or three days before.

Generally, when we have decided that stimulated IUI is their best treatment option, a couple is seen in our nurse-led clinic where they go through the consent form, they are given the details about the procedure, where to come for their scans, how to self-inject the medication during that appointment. Then, the women contacts the unit on their period and then they would have collected the prescription from the pharmacy so, the medication depending on their background clinical information may be just taking tablets with injection or just daily injections. While they’re having these injections, they come to the department for the scans every few days and we are watching the growth of the follicle. When the follicle is of the right size then we give ask them to take the second injection which will help the egg release but we will time that for her partner to come into the unit so, that we can prepare the sperm in the lab and we introduce the sperm into the woman’s genital tracts.
