Vitamin C, the data controversial. Like antioxidants for people who have a risk of high amounts of reactive oxygen species, vitamin c is good but, as I know, there is not enough data and not enough “mice control trials” which prove its effect on fertility.

Vitamin C is a great antioxidant, very important antioxidant and all antioxidants have been shown to improve fertility so, consumption of vitamin C rich foods is very important. Vitamin C is very prevalent in fruits and vegetables so, it’s very important how we consume those because it’s a water-soluble vitamin so, it’s important not to stay if we boil any vegetables or if we steam, not just keep them in the water as they lose a lot of the capacity.

We actually need a relatively small amount of vitamin C for our recommended daily amount which is around 40 mlg. We can get this easily, just in one portion of our fruits and vegetables that are high in vitamin C. Generally speaking, when it comes to vitamin C and women, we would just say aim for, at least, the recommended, five portions of fruit and vegetables per day and you should be able to get a sufficient amount form this. We will find some vitamin C in most prenatal supplements as well and where it can be particularly useful is vitamin C is know to boost progesterone levels, so this can support implantation, it can support reducing the risk of miscarriage. If that is a particular interest for you, then you might take an additional vitamin C supplement. In terms of dosage, it is recommended that we keep our vitamin C below 1000mg per day so as long as you are within that scope it is considered safe but don’t take an additional supplement unless you need to.
