How long can you go without a period with PCOS?
Answer from: Kate Davies, RN, BSc (Hons), FP Cert
Some women can go a very long time without a period but it is actually recommended that if you don’t have a period within 90 days of your last period, that you seek medical advice and you can be given treatment to induce a period so that you have a bleed. The reason for this is that there is a very low risk of something called endometrial hyperplasia. This where the cells of the endometrium slightly change and you don’t want to have that risk, so it is recommended that i you’ve not had a period in 90 days, see your doctor and talk to your doctor about what you need to do and what you can take to induce a period so that you can start a cycle again.

If you have less than three periods in a year, if a woman with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome has less than three periods in a year, then she should really be going to see her doctor to get advice on that. She should have at least three periods a year, otherwise she has an increased risk of developing endometrial hyperplasia which can in turn lead to her developing endometrial cancer.
Is it normal to miss period for 3 months in PCOS?
One of the symptoms of PCOS is irregular or absent menstrual period. If the period is absent for a long period, it can lead to serious conditions including cancer. Proper monitoring is needed in case of PCOS diagnosis.
