To improve egg quality, one of the first things that needs to be changed is the lifestyle. We need to eat more healthy food. It’s very common sense that when we are pregnant, we really know that we need to eat healthy, we need to avoid alcohol, we need to avoid nicotine, caffeine and so on but it is just as important before you get pregnant that you have the same lifestyles. It’s not just for the pregnancy, it’s actually before you even start trying and getting pregnant in order to increase the quality of the eggs. Having a balanced diet is very important: high in antioxidants so that it helps the quality of the eggs. It’s also very important to exercise. Exercising increases blood flow. Hydrating yourself eight glasses of water a day is known to increase the blood flow to the ovaries and therefore can bring more oxygen and make the process of egg quality better. It’s also very important to keep a balanced weight. If you are not within the normal BMI range, if you’re overweight or underweight, this can impact the quality of your eggs and also the balance of the hormones in your body which consequently actually do cause problems with the production of egg or even menstruation.
This is very important: exercise, food and keeping a balanced weight.
Also what is important to know is that we need to try not to be stressed. We know stress can have an impact on our body and of course our ovaries. Our eggs are part of our body so it can impact them as well. Sometimes doctors can prescribe CoQ10 which is an enzyme that can help the quality of the eggs and another medication called DHEA but this must be done under the care of your gynaecologist or your fertility specialist and should not be taken on its own.
