Yes, of course, estrogen and progesterone are the two basic hormones that we use for preparation of the endometrium. Estrogen on the first phase for the thickness and the lining of the endometrium and then progesterone, to prepare those cells, those endometrial cells for the receptivity of the embryo and basically to open the window of implantation.

Especially with progesterone – the progesterone is very indicative. Many women with failed IVF will tell you that they had either big problems developing a good level of progesterone or in the worst case scenario, they don’t develop thick lining at all despite the very high doses of estradiol – that is not normal. If the estradiol is as simple as it sounds: I don’t have estradiol, give estradiol and make lining, this is the normal process but something is between those two things and regulates how estradiol will be used and if the endometrium will be allowed to respond to estradiol.

Progesterone makes the endometrium thinner normally. So if you observe that after progesterone administration, your lining keeps growing very quickly, think about canceling the embryo transfer, because the success rate would be significantly lower; as has been shown before by Robert Casper. We just started in our clinic and we see the same results.
