Can you ovulate without being fertile?

Being fertile means that we can get pregnant but in order to conceive an egg needs to meet sperm meaning that both female sides like male need to have genetically normal material. Would fact that you ovulate be enough to consider female being fertile?

Yes and no. The fact that you’re ovulating is a great start. You need to ovulate to get pregnant naturally. It’s a really good place to be. However, there are so many other factors that can impact on your ability to conceive. Many ladies say to me I’m ovulating, I don’t understand why I can’t conceive but that’s because there are so many other aspects from the sperm to the womb lining, to your hormones – to so many different things. In theory, yes, if you’re ovulating – that’s a great place to start but it’s important to know that there could be other factors and to get things checked out like for example getting your partner to have a sperm test.

Ovulation is only the first step of establishing good pregnancy. Egg needs to be released but sperm needs to be present so that it can be fertilized and also there needs to be a good normal anatomy and function of the tubes that are going to carry the fertilized egg inside the womb. Lining of the womb needs to also have a normal function so that the fertilized egg can be implanted and lead to a healthy pregnancy
