A miscarriage by definition is the loss of a pregnancy in the first 23 weeks of pregnancy. The miscarriage could be an early miscarriage of first trimester miscarriage that happens within the first 12 weeks or the second miscarriage that will be through the end of the 12th week of pregnancy up to week 23 of pregnancy. The miscarriage can happen for different reasons and can have different symptoms and the reasons of miscarriage and the cause and the symptoms of a miscarriage differ according to what stage the miscarriage happened.

Miscarriage is very common. One in four couples miscarry and this includes both chemical losses and also the clinical pregnancy which we say which was seen on the scan.
