It’s not that there is no reason, but I think it’s to do with risks and chances. People often say, well i’m doing everything right so why is it not happening. It’s no that if you do everything right you will get pregnant, nearly everybody does it right, it is not that anyone is doing it wrong, it is just that it does not always happen. Therefore to say there is no reason is impossible, there will be some reason why that month, that pregnancy there was no pregnancy, whether it was to do with the quality of the egg, the timing, anything. We will never know this, it is extremely complex, the whole process of fertilisation and the whole process of egg and sperm quality, the whole process of implantation, we are never going to be able to pin it down and say on this cycle, if you had done this slightly differently it would have happened. It is not like that, so it is not that it doesn’t happen for no reason but i think we are unlikely to be able to explain most of the subtle reasons and actually as a species we do not get pregnant very easily but most of the time it is okay.
