Well, actually it’s the same as a fresh embryo transfer because the most important part of the delivery date, the due date is this first part in which we sort of take the date of the embryo transfer minus 19 days and that will be our last menstrual period date. Knowing that, the rest of the calculations are very easy.

For fresh embryo transfers usually we perform it on Day 5 of embryo development. So we perform the ovarian function and the prescribed progesterone from the evening or the day of ovarian function, and five days later we perform embryo transfer. We prefer to cultivate embryos until the blastocyst stage and then we can choose the best one. When we perform frozen embryo transfer, we can prepare the uterus in a natural cycle and while taking hormone replacement therapy. And if we perform a frozen embryo transfer in a natural cycle, we wait for ovulation, and then we will count these five days like in a fresh cycle. If we perform frozen embryo transfer using hormone replacement treatment, we will prescribe estrogens for the endometrium thickness, and then we will prescribe progesterone for the five days before the embryo transfer. So that’s how we can calculate the date of an embryo transfer.

The calculation of the due date is done in the same way that we do for a fresh embryo. Because we transfer most of the time to Day 5 embryos and if we are going to transfer a frozen one, we are going to unfreeze the embryo on Day 5 and transfer the same day. So, we count back five days that is the ovulation day and then 15 days back again, to recalculate your last menstrual period, first day of the last menstrual period and then the due date is calculated in the normal fashion.
