Actually, two things can be thought: one if the bleeding is small and and brownish -it may tell us that the implantation was a little bit traumatic and maybe that’s why and it’s something that it’s actually good, it’s something that tell us that the implantation is going on but if the bleeding is heavier or heavy as a first day of period, it can tell us that things are not going well and we have to take a look at that.

Yes! Actually, some patients can have small blood spotting after an embryo transfer on the day of the embryo transfer, especially if there are some special features of your cervix or the cervical channel which would be passed through by a catheter. So, you can have some blood spots on the day of the embryo transfer. And I think about 1/3 of our patients have some bleeding after an embryo transfer but that doesn’t mean that implantation didn’t occur or the attempt has failed. About half of these patients with some bleeding have successful pregnancies so it doesn’t mean that everything has been finished and everything is bad. You just need to contact your doctor and ask if you can change some of your medical support.

That’s kind of typical for these initial two weeks. There might be a slight spotting or even a weak bleeding sometimes as the embryo nests, it breaks some of the capillaries and starts to communicate with the mother’s organism. Sometimes this pool of blood, this little pool of blood can actually escape from the uterine cavity and can present itself as a spotting or bleeding, if that happens no panic, keep taking your medications and bed rest is recommended for the duration of the spotting. As soon as it’s over then you can get more active again.

About this question:

Is bleeding after embryo transfer normal?

Although seeing blood can be scary, it does not necessarily mean that the procedure failed. Light spotting can occur and it will not mean that the embryo did not implant. Should we contact a doctor only with heavier bleeding?
