Meet Renata Finelli

Renata is a Bio-technologist, specialising in male fertility. Her career started in Rome Italy where she achieved a masters degree in Bio-technology and then began a PhD, in Rome in Biotechnology of reproduction. She loves to travel and traveled a lot during her PhD. She spent a few months in Spain where she worked in the IVI center – Instituto Valenciano de Infertilidad in Bilbao to learn how to work in an assisted reproduction setting. During her first year as PhD student she traveled to Taiwan in order to learn molecular biology techniques applying to the study of male infertility. During her PhD she also achieved a second masters degree by the IV center in assisted reproduction and embryology.
After her PhD she moved to the Cleveland Clinic in the USA under the supervision of Professor Ashok Agarwal, where she conducted research about oxidative stress and sperm DNA fragmentation in humans. Renata was also the chief co-ordinator for the first online ART training organised by her center and had the opportunity, aside from research, to collaborate with people around the world, to conduct research and be the supervisor for students writing a systematic review and meta analysis on the topic of male infertility. After working for one year there as a research fellow, she moved to London UK and is currently working there as a junior embryologist at the Create Fertility center, a clinic specialise in mild and natural assisted reproduction.
