Melvin H. Thornton, Associate Professor

Dr. Melvin H. Thornton II, is currently the medical director, and IVF director at Global Fertility and Genetics located in New York, the USA. He did his residency in OBGY training at the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles, as well as fellowship training at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

He spent a year at the Cleveland Clinic undergoing pelvic surgery. Since that time, he was a medical director at Columbia University Women’s for Reproductive Care in New York. He was an associate professor at Columbia for 15 years, until joining the Global Fertility team in New York.

He specializes in in-vitro fertilization but his main focus is on third-party reproduction which includes egg donation, sperm donation, and surrogacy. At the center where dr Thornton is a director, they perform very difficult cases: the women here have a recurrent pregnancy loss, couples who are looking for an egg donor and a surrogate, and they work with many gay couples across and around the world to help them have a child through egg donation and surrogacy.
